On Friday, NBCNewYork.com and Mother invited a select group of the local news site's visitors to enjoy a free meal from Momofuku chef David Chang, the foremost creator of pork buns and overall hero to foodies the world over. Creativity not at all begrudgingly took a field trip to Houston and Lafayette to meet the chef and enjoy the fruits of his lunch cart (check out our photos below).
The event, part of NBC Local Media's Locals Only series, was intended to drive traffic to NBC New York's website and exhibit the brand's relevance to the city's locals. To be eligible for one of the 160 golden lunch tickets, website visitors were required to log in and take a quiz about the city. Winners were then emailed and asked to submit a secret password that would serve as a ticket to the event--in true exclusive event fashion, invitees had to wait until the day of the event for the location to be revealed. Other Locals Only events across the country have included concerts by Common in Los Angeles and Chicago and Kanye West in New York.
