Word of Net's Visibility Index Top 50, appearing monthly in Ad Age, measures the online buzz around top Internet domains. On a scale up to 1,000, Word of Net tallies a URL's points of presence on the Web-how often a site pops up with keyword queries on search engines, where it shows up in online directories and how often it appears in Web ads, news releases and online news reports.
New entrants this month: amazon.com, altavista.com, nytimes.com. Meanwhile, yahoo.com has advanced nine slots and Lycos' angelfire.com and tripod.com have inched up eight spots. Go.com, cnn.com and msn.com fell four, two and seven places, respectively.
