BBDO lands Telecom Argentina

By Published on .

[Buenos Aires] In a sign that some hard-hit product categories in Argentina's devastated economy may start spending again, the country's second-biggest phone company, Telecom Argentina, has appointed Omnicom Group's BBDO Argentina to handle its $3 million account. The win follows a pitch against incumbent Agulla & Baccetti, minority-owned by Interpublic Group of Cos.' Lowe & Partners Worldwide, and four other agencies. The business includes corporate and residential phone services, pre-paid calling cards, phone directories and Internet services. It excludes mobile telephony, which is handled by Interpublic's FCB Argentina. Earlier this month, Telecom awarded its media buying and planning business to Aegis Group's Carat Argentina.
