Czech plans EU ad push

[prague] As ten countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltics gear up to enter the European Union in 2004, a marketing push is starting. In the Czech Republic, the government is short-listing agencies for a campaign to present the pros and cons of EU membership to the Czech public before a June referendum to ratify the country's entry. One decision has already been made: The government wants to feature characters from the popular U.S. show "The Simpsons" in a campaign aimed at young Czechs. A Ministry of Agriculture spokesman said, `"The Simpsons' can get ... the message across more effectively than lengthy brochures."
