Italian daily's ad critical of U.S.

By Published on .

[rome] Left-wing Italian daily Il Manifesto is promoting the paper with an ad that criticizes U.S. policy toward Iraq and implies the U.S. is mainly interested in cheap oil. In the ad, by local agency WLF, smoke drifts from the nozzle of a gas pump like a gun that has just been fired, below a quote from George W. Bush about protecting safety and justice. The newspaper, outdoor and radio ad, intended to show that Il Manifesto takes controversial stands, asks readers to subscribe.
