JWT lands launch for Kia's Opirus

[seoul] Kia Motors Corp. awarded the estimated $15 million launch in Korea later this year of its Opirus upmarket sedan to WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson Co. The decision is a blow to Kia incumbent AdValue, Seoul, 80% owned by Cordiant Communications Group's Bates Worldwide. There has been speculation that Bates would lose more accounts of Hyundai Motor Co., Kia's affiliate. In 2002, Hyundai Motor America moved its $500 million-plus U.S. creative and media accounts from Bates.
