Worldwide is buying a majority stake in local agency Grottera, a 17-year-old Brazilian shop with billings of about $30 million whose clients include Banco do Brasil, energy company CPFL Energia, and cellphone company TCO Celulares. Luiz Grottera, the agency's founder, president and VP-planning, will continue in the same job, as will his three partners, including Cibar Ruiz, creative director. TBWA and Grottera started meeting in December 2002, and came to an agreement very quickly, Robert Rosenthal, TBWA president of Latin America, said. In May 2002, TBWA's deal with Sao Paulo agency Capsula, which TBWA acquired in September 2001, fell apart. TBWA entered Brazil in 1997, buying first agency Graciotti/Schonburg/Navarro, then Zetune.
