Work: Monaro

Published on .

General Motors Holden Australia used a pride of lions prowling around downtown Sydney to symbolize the power of its legendary Monaro model in the "Lion King" spot created by Publicis Groupe's Leo Burnett Worldwide, Melbourne. A voice-over says: "There's a basic law of nature that says the mightiest will lead." The spot also leverages the success of the car's relaunch in 2001, 22 years after GM stopped making the Monaro.

Thanks to the car's popularity Down Under, it is now exported to the U.S. and sold under GM's Pontiac GTO brand. Art director: Tone Walde. Copywriters: Derek Craig and Shapoor Batliwalla.
