Two More Great Performances

The "Bobby" Awards Come to the Bobosphere

By Published on .

If you are like most visitors to the Bobosphere, you are a long-time devotee of Ad Review most likely bordering on freakish cult of personality. So it will be no news to you that each January Ad Review honors the best performances of the year in American TV commercials with the coveted Bobby Award.

As you know, the annual (virtual) trophies go to one male, one female plus one celebrity.

From this point forward, I'll be posting nominees here on the blog. January's winner will include those you read about here, plus those singled out in Ad Review during the course of the year. But, of course, I'll entertain your nominees, as well.

Here are two celebrity nominations, both football players: Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints running back, in a spot for Mobile ESPN, and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning for Sprint in a spot titled "Disguise." He's wearing one, a ridiculous one, in order to talk up his own reputation.

Manning has done wonderful comic performances before. But Reggie Bush is a revelation. He could conceivably be the only man in history to receive a Heisman Trophy and the Bobby in a single year.
