The International Advertising Association has named Deborah Malone as the new president and executive director for the industry association. She succeeds Michael Lee, who stepped down earlier this year.
Ms. Malone has been active in the IAA, a tripartite group that brings together marketers, ad agencies and media, since becoming a member in 1992. She started her career at Advertising Age, where she was managing director-international until 2000 and behind the launch of Ad Age International magazine.
Ms. Malone was VP-international advertising/marketing at CNBC for two years before starting The Internationalist in 2003 as a print magazine and website and event organizer, including the Internationalist Awards for Innovation in Media. She'll continue to oversee content for all the Internationalist projects while taking on the IAA leadership, and the Internationalist will become more closely allied with the IAA.
The IAA's chairman is Alan Rutherford, who previously also held the title of world president.
