M&C Saatchi will reopen in New York next month and is hiring Jeff Brooks, who was CEO and chief digital officer at Euro RSCG for the past year, as CEO of the new office.
Mr. Brooks, who will join M&C Saatchi at the end of February, said one of his priorities will be to hire a chief creative officer and a head of planning to round out the management team. He declined to say what clients the new agency will be handling.
M&C Saatchi had a New York office until 2007, when the agency consolidated its New York and Los Angeles operations. The Los Angeles office, run by CEO Huw Griffith, has about 50 staffers and works for Ugg boots, the San Diego Zoo, Australian airline Qantas and Epson printers. Mr. Griffith said the Los Angeles shop is working with M&C Saatchi's London office on a campaign for Google, a network client.
M&C Saatchi was founded in 1995 in London by Maurice Saatchi and three other senior Saatchi & Saatchi executives. The four founders still own 24% of the publicly quoted independent network, which has 25 offices in 20 countries. Mr. Brooks will report to M&C Saatchi's worldwide CEO, London-based Moray MacLennan.
Mr. Brooks joined Euro RSCG in 2006 as CEO of Euro RSCG 4D and became co-CEO of Euro RSCG the following year. Before that , he spent four years at Atmosphere BBDO, first as managing director and then as president. He has also worked at Ogilvy & Mather and Grey Worldwide.
The new M&C agency will operate out of a New York office that already houses several other M&C group companies, including M&C Sports & Entertainment, a PR and sponsorship shop; M&C Saatchi Mobile; and Clear , a strategic brand consultancy.
