Survey Says 1 in 5 Australian Ad Execs Drink or Do Drugs at Work

Gawker points to coverage of a survey about drug and alcohol habits in the Australian ad business. Twenty percent drink or drug at work or a work-related function. Only 7 percent of media sales people could say they had no associates who had drinking problems. Then, when asked whether they drink to excess, 12% of those surveyed said "yes," 24% said "possibly" and 39% said "no."

These news stories generally describe these numbers as problematic, but I share the sentiment of Mat Baxter, founding partner of Naked Communications, quoted in The Australian: "I'm surprised the results are as low as they are."
