Digital expert Richard Dunmall is joining Naked Communications as the communications-planning agency's global CEO. He replaces Steve Gatfield, who stepped down in August as co-chairman.
a role he shared with founder Jon Wilkins. Now Mr. Dunmall, 36 , will partner with Mr. Wilkins, but in a somewhat different role that is more operationally-focused, hands-on management. Mr. Gatfield's job was more strategic, Mr. Wilkins said.
Mr. Dunmall was the New York-based VP in charge of Microsoft's global advertising sales until August, and since then has been commuting between New York and Berlin as chief operating officer of German mobile-advertising startup Madvertise.
He was based in Hong Kong, with responsibility for Microsoft's ad sales in Asia and Latin America. A Brit, he started his career in London and was CEO-managing director for the U.K. of MindShare Interaction until 2006.
Mr. Wilkins, who has shifted Naked's global headquarters to New York from London, said Mr. Dunmall's experience working around the world and with global clients was appealing. "We're hiring someone who has worked in digital agencies and a technology environment, and that 's the world we're operating in."

He will report to Matthew Melhuish, the group CEO of Naked's Sydney-based parent company Enero.
