Yes, We Can ... Turn Obama Optimism Into a Cheesy Aussie Car Ad

Australian Chrysler Spot Tries to Convert Slogan Into Sales

This one has been out there for a while, but is just now making a rounds in these parts. On behalf of Chrylser, BBDO Clemenger has taken President Obama's message of optimism and what sounds a lot like his voice and translated it all into the international language of a big car sales. Even the website for the sale is decked out in the red, white, and blue.

Say what you will, it's bound to garner a fair amount of criticism for turning a message of change and hope into something so crassly commercial -- even if it's hard to distinguish this from any other number of countless attempts to cash in on the first African-American president. But you be the judge.

Script excerpt: OBAMAish V.O.: "When people ask, 'Can we buy a Dodge Nitro with 20-inch rims for under 35,000?' I say 'Yes. We. Can.'"

Tagline: "A Price Change You Can Believe In."
