Working to expand the practice of mindfulness, the Shambhala Sun Foundation is holding its first Auction for a Mindful Society, with donations from marketers, experts and authors in this area. The auction, which runs through May 31, offers books, mindfulness-oriented products and retreats.
The foundation, which publishes two Buddhism- and mindfulness-related magazines, including the Shambhala Sun, is working to expand the mindfulness movement, creating a more mindful society through books, magazines, conferences, websites and digital publications. Proceeds from the auction will help this growth.
Among items up for auction are a silent yoga retreat at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Lenox, Mass.;a five-day, mindfulness-based, stress-reduction training program at the Center for Mindfulness,Worcester, Mass.; and books by authors such as mindfulness pioneer Jon Kabat-Zinn, Susan Piver, Thich Nhat Hanh and Frances Moore Lappe.
According to Shambhala, the mindful living movement is made up of a growing number of people who are practicing mindful meditation to improve health, relationships, job performance and overall happiness, helping them handle life's inevitable challenges.
