More than 800 people showed up for GroupM's annual Casino Night last week, raising $130,000 for the Make a Wish Foundation. The event, themed as a San Gennaro street festival, drew 100 sponsors from major TV, print, digital and radio corporations.
Employees and their guests played blackjack, poker and Texas hold 'em to help raise funds, along with silent auctions and raffles, at La Venue in New York.
"All of us at GroupM are very proud and happy that we were able to contribute to this important cause," said Timothy Cecere, executive director of M Charity and director, human resources, GroupM North America. "We're especially thankful to our employees and our many media company sponsors for making the event such a big success. We've been contributing to Make a Wish for several years now, and we're looking forward to continuing the relationship for many years to come."
Casino Night falls under the M Charity umbrella, representing all of WPP's GroupM companies, including Maxus, MEC, MediaCom and Mindshare. Over the years, the annual event has raised more than $1 million for Make a Wish.
