When the CMT Music Awards show opens tonight, the spotlight will focus beyond the stars of country music. CMT's pro-social arm, CMT One Country, has been working to connect brands to charitable efforts in conjunction with the annual awards show.
CMT One Country has partnered with Acuvue, which will donate a one-year supply of contact lenses to all eligible Boys & Girls Club members in middle Tennessee. The partnership is part of CMT's long-running effort in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, an organization that provides programs and services in a safe environment for communities' young people. The Acuvue program will be featured in a spot during the live Red Carpet show at 7 p.m. ET.
As part of the awards show, CMT will make donations on behalf of CMT Music Awards winners to the charities of their choice. Instead of handing out artist gift bags, CMT will contribute to Feeding America's BackPack program, which was set up to feed hungry children on weekends and school vacations when other resources, such as school lunches, are not available to them.
Since 2008, CMT has donated more than $200,000 to charities in honor of the CMT Music Awards.
