NEW YORK ( -- The seventh annual Advertising Age Hispanic Creative Advertising Awards ceremony kicked off in Manhattan's Metropolitan Pavilion on Friday evening, Sept. 30. The event is done in cooperation with the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies to honor the year's best advertising work.

More than 500 people attended the event in a cavernous venue that was laid out like a gigantic lounge rather than a traditonal auditorium. Nearly an acre of sofas provided seating for the guests.

This year's awards event was created by New York Hispanic agency Ole and producer Carlos Carrasco. Above, left, Javier Escobedo and Paco Olavarrieta, partners in Ole, opened the show. Announcing the first prizes are Alex Lopez Negrete, president-CEO of Hispanic agency Lopez Negrete Communications, Houston, and chairman of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies and Laurel Wentz, Advertising Age’s international and multicultural editor.
