Seeks Hispanic Shop, Two Canadian Agencies; Crispin Retains U.S. Work

By Published on .

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Ikea Systems is looking to hire additional agencies as it expands in North America.

The home furnishings retailer said today it is close to signing two independent agencies in Canada, one to handle creative and one to handle media. It also soon will look for an Hispanic shop.

MDC Partners' Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, Miami, had handled creative for Canada and the U.S., but Ikea is moving its Canadian operations from its U.S. headquarters in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., to Burlington, Ontario, the spokeswoman said.

A spokesman for Ikea's U.S. operations said the company soon would look for a Hispanic agency. He said the decision to shift the Canadian work from Crispin reflected a desire to have local shops work on the business.
