The Recording Industry Association of America has named GOP political veteran Mitch Bainwol as its chairman and chief executive beginning Sept. 1, replacing the recently departed Hilary Rosen. Bainwol was formerly the chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.

The WB Network has bestowed exec VP titles to its core development team. Comedy department co-heads Mike Clements and Tracey Pakosta and drama head Carolyn Bernstein—all previously senior VPs—were upped by WB Entertainment President Jordan Levin.
