Universal Music Group last week named Antonio "L.A." Reid to run its Island Def Jam Music Group. Reid will become chairman of IDJ, which sells music by Jay-Z, DMX, and Ashanti. Reid was recently dismissed by BMG's Arista Records as chief executive. He replaces Lyor Cohen, who left to become a top executive at the Warner Music Group, recently sold to Edgar Bronfman.

Robin Schwartz is the new president of Regency Television. She will oversee all of the studio's current series slate, including "Malcolm in the Middle" and "The Bernie Mac Show." Schwartz joins Regency from ABC Family Channel, where she was VP of programming. She succeeds Peter Aronson, who left Regency to become executive producer of "The Bernie Mac Show."
