Microsoft has teamed up with Viacom’s MTV to unveil its new Xbox video-game console during a half-hour special to air May 12, a week before the annual E3 video-game convention in Los Angeles. Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) will host, while interviews with celebrities will appear along with footage of next-generation Xbox games and the abilities of the new system. The special will also air in Japan and Europe May 13. The marketing deal has been in the works for a year, the companies said, with Xbox also planning to promote MTV in its games and elsewhere. The new system is expected to hit retailers later this year, beating out Sony’s new PlayStation 3. | Jon Bon Jovi and John Elway will appear during the season finale of NBC’s Las Vegas as a way to promote their respective Arena Football League teams. NBC airs AFL games.
