WPP's Group M and Universal Music Group have formed BrandAmp to develop music and brand partnerships for clients. The joint venture will also seek to work with other artists and record companies to synchronize third-party deals and music pacts. BrandAmp will be based in London. | Meanwhile Group M Entertainment said it will co-produce "October Road," a six-episode TV drama with ABC and Touchstone Television. ABC is giving ad inventory to Group M, which will make it available to its clients. Group M Entertainment President Peter Tortorici is overseeing the creative and production. | California state Sen. Kevin Murray (D-Los Angeles) will join the William Morris Agency's corporate consulting division in January as a senior VP. He is stepping down from his current role after 12 years because of term limits following the November elections. He began his career in the William Morris mailroom in 1982, later becoming a music agent. He left to work in politics in 1989. As a senator, he authored legislation making it illegal to use a camcorder in a movie theater and pushed for incentives to counter Hollywood productions from leaving Los Angeles.
