Pixar Animation Studios and the Walt Disney Co. have bumped the release of Cars from fall 2005 to summer 2006. The switch -- which is part of Pixar’s plan to release all of its films during the more lucrative summer season and DVDs during the holidays -- not only means Pixar will sit out all of next year without a single release, but forces promotional partners to look for another animated feature to support during the holidays. Pixar’s The Incredibles lured $150 million in additional marketing muscle from advertisers this fall.
