CBS Is Reaching for a New Hit, but the Early Numbers Fall Short
The New York Times sits down with CBS CEO Leslie Moonves on the heels of a new contract that has him helming the network through 2011. He's facing the fall season's first ratings returns, described as "noticeably weak." But Mr. Moonves strikes a "What, me worry?" tone in the face of analysts downgrading his stock and the season's less-than-stellar start. "Everybody has underestimated CBS from day one, and they're still underestimating us," he said. "Everybody wants to write us off, but we're doing fine."
