Ron Burkle Ponders Long-shot Bid for Dow Jones

Fortune's Tim Arango reports that supermarket mogul Ron Burkle could make an offer this week for Dow Jones with a surprising partner: Yahoo. As Rupert Murdoch waits for the Bancrofts to decide on a proposal to ensure editorial independence at The Wall Street Journal under News Corp., various parties, such as General Electric, Pearson, Hearst and Barry Diller, have scrambled to weigh a bid. But Burkle is still working with Dow Jones' union and could go public this week with a long-shot offer for the company.
