Tentative Dow Jones Sale Pact Said to Give Murdoch Power to Hire and Fire at the Journal
The New York Times reports on a tentative accord on the editorial independence of The Wall Street Journal, which would give Rupert Murdoch power to hire and fire the Journal's top editors if News Corp. succeeds in buying Dow Jones. Negotiators for the two companies continue to iron out details of what has been described as "an agreement in principle" on editorial independence, and they expect to begin to debate the price of the deal soon.
