Bruce Sherman Cuts Stakes in Newspaper Companies
Dow Jones Newswire reports that Bruce Sherman, the investor who forced a sale of the Knight Ridder newspaper chain, has sharply reduced or eliminated holdings in several major newspaper publishers. Sherman's Private Capital Management no longer holds shares in Gannett Co., Media General or Belo Corp., and has reduced stakes in New York Times Co., McClatchy and Lee Enterprises, according to disclosures filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
