Victor Ganzi Is Leaving As Hearst President, CEO

The Wall Street Journal reports that Victor F. Ganzi is leaving as president-CEO of Hearst Corp. He is expected to be succeeded, at least on an interim basis, by former CEO Frank Bennack Jr., who stepped down in 2002. (Hearst and Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, publish SmartMoney magazine in a joint venture.) Mr. Ganzi has worked at Hearst for nearly 30 years, joining the closely held publishing giant in 1990 as general counsel and VP, and was elevated to COO in 1998, part of succession plan setting up Mr. Ganzi for the top job. He succeeded Mr. Bennack in 2001.
