NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- The American Society of Magazine Editors has named Sid Holt, the former Rolling Stone managing editor, to the newly created position of CEO. Marlene Kahan continues in her longtime post of executive director but will now report to the CEO. Mr. Holt will report to the ASME board of directors.

"In unanimously voting to create this new position for him, the ASME board recognized how uniquely suited Sid is to lead us in new directions while continuing to champion editorial excellence, independence and integrity in print and online," said David Willey, president of ASME and editor in chief at Runner's World. "Marlene Kahan's three decades of service, passion for magazines and knowledge of the ASME community will be more indispensable than ever in all of these efforts."

In addition to his stint as managing editor of Rolling Stone, Mr. Holt has held positions including VP at Wenner Media; exec VP and editor in chief of Adweek Magazines; and editorial director of Nielsen Business Media. He was named chief editor at Go2 Media, a mobile publisher, last year.
