Replaces Lauf, Now VP-Publisher of The Atlantic

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Conde Nast has moved quickly to fill the void left atop the business side of Wired when Jay Lauf took a VP-publisher job with The Atlantic this week, today naming Chris Mitchell to take over as Wired's VP-publisher. Mr. Mitchell had been VP-publisher of Details since April 2004.

The pick by David Carey, president and group publisher of the business group at Conde Nast, actually reunites Wired with an old hand. Mr. Mitchell was advertising director of Wired from 1996 through 2000. He left to launch a start-up but returned to Conde in 2001 as associate publisher of The New Yorker, where Mr. Carey was then publisher.
