Mediabrands Names New Chief Digital Officer

Quentin George Moves Up From Universal McCann

NEW YORK ( -- Mediabrands, Interpublic Group of Cos.' media division, has appointed Quentin George to the newly created position of chief digital officer. Mr. George will be charged with accelerating Mediabrands' strategic planning and business development in all aspects of digital-marketing strategy. He will also focus on creating new-media-marketplace initiatives through strategic partnerships and alliances. The goal is for Mr. George to transform the Mediabrands culture into one that is 100% digitally focused, the company said in a statement.

Mediabrands serves as the media holding company for Initiative, Universal McCann and Magna.

In addition to his new role, Mr. George will continue to wear his old hat as global head of digital and new-media practices for Universal McCann, which he has held since 2007.

"Digital is now a fundamental part of everything we do," said Mediabrands CEO Nick Brien in a statement. "As a result of constant digital enhancements, basic human behavior continues to alter. The manner in which people interact, learn, share, and further customize information is forever influenced. The way our business operates is also being challenged and redefined. To help our clients navigate the new world with speed and sophistication, Quentin will constantly examine investments and partnerships in digital areas such as mobile, search and social platforms."

Prior to joining Universal McCann two years ago, Mr. George was chief of corporate development and managing director for Organic and headed up work for clients such as Sprint, 20th Century Fox, Mitsubishi Motors and GeekSquad.
