Mr. Spiegel, 32, is the founder of Resolution Media, a query-based marketing shop focused on search and web analytics that was acquired by Omnicom in 2005. Mr. Spiegel will work out of Chicago, and as CEO of OMG Digital, Resolution will report in to him. Day-to-day operations will be overseen by David Gould, who recently became the company's president.
Previous jobs include a stint as senior VP-search at Mosaic Data Solutions and VP-direct marketing sales, for ad network L90.
Focus on data mining
In his new role, Mr. Spiegel said he will focus on building on OMG Digital's data and analytics capabilities. His appointment is effective April 1.
"Whether we are measuring brand impact, direct transactions or purchase intent, marketers are more and more [prioritizing] data as part of their decision-making process," he said.
Another priority will be to tighten up digital execution on a day-to-day basis -- he said he'd like it to be done "flawlessly" -- so his practice can focus on innovation.
"The conversation has evolved to where to go next and how to innovate," he said. "We want to make sure we lead our clients."
His third area of focus is one that's much on the minds of digital executives in the industry: talent development. "We have to make sure that we are creating talent. In many cases it's about making sure we have a process in place to continue to enhance digital training," he said.
