'High-potential clients'
In his newly created post, Mr. Bauer will be responsible for developing companywide initiatives with "high-potential clients," the company said in an internal memo last month. He reports to Leslie Picard, senior VP-corporate sales and marketing.

When Time Inc. shuttered Life magazine in March, 42 Time Inc. employees, 17 from editorial and 25 from the publishing side, lost jobs. Three of the top executives for the title -- Mr. Bauer, Editor William Shapiro and Executive Editor Maggie Murphy -- were given the opportunity to find new positions within the company.

Mr. Bauer, who worked closely with CEO Ann Moore when she was in charge of the women's group and is highly regarded by her, landed at Life after his position as president of Time Inc.'s People magazine was eliminated in another reorganization.
