Mr. Chelstowski, who joined the magazine last year, already did a stint as acting publisher in between the brief tenures of Steve DeLuca and Mr. Castelli. He has previously held various posts, including national sales director at Entertainment Weekly.

Ad pages at Rolling Stone held flat in the first half of the year, compared with first-half 2006, and fell 7% in full-year 2006, according to the Publishers Information Bureau.
