NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- The New York Observer named Stephen Goldberg as its senior VP-associate publisher, reporting to publisher and owner Jared Kushner. Mr. Goldberg succeeds Betty Letterman, who has been named senior director-new business development.

Next step in evolution
"Our hiring of Stephen is the next step in the evolution of the Observer, ensuring that our publishing side matches the power and influence of our editorial," Mr. Kushner said. "With his considerable experience, we will enhance our ability to develop multiple business partnerships, explore additional media platforms and increase our revenue stream."

Mr. Goldberg had been VP-associate publisher at The Deal and before that was national advertising director at Investors Business Daily. Mr. Kushner bought a majority stake in the Observer last summer for an estimated $10 million.
