NEW YORK ( -- Oops she did it again! Putting an end to months of speculation, Britney Spears confirmed she was indeed pregnant with her second child on David Letterman's late-night show this week. While some of the tabs got the scoop before going to press this week, others missed the boat. The covers of People and Star remained Britney free. The cover of Life & Style has the headline "Britney: Yes, I'm pregnant!" and In Touch has the headline "Britney reveals: It's a girl!"
Now it's really official: The tabs start have started spinning Britney's pregnancy.
Now it's really official: The tabs start have started spinning Britney's pregnancy.

In Touch claims they "can exclusively reveal it's a girl." An insider is quoted saying Ms. Spears "can't wait to play dress-up with her daughter." The insider also reveals "It's no secret that Britney was hoping for a girl the first time around." They speculate that Britney and Kevin might name their daughter Julia after Kevin's mom or Lillian after Britney's maternal grandmother. Apparently, the names Emily and Lola are also being considered.

Us Weekly featured Britney and a cute, jowly Sean Preston on its cover with a headline citing a "surprise second pregnancy" that "destroyed her secret plans to leave Kevin for good." Inside, Us Weekly quotes "sources" who said the pregnancy was "bad timing." So apparently in some parts of tabloid world, a first baby is deserving of gushing, but a second baby spells big trouble. Then again, Life & Style, which also detailed Britney's marital woes a bit, quotes a "pal" saying Britney is very happy to be adding to her brood "and she doesn't want to stop at two. She wants a third baby as soon as possible."

Watercooler, as usual, finds we just don't know what to believe after reading all the weeklies contradictory spin. Given all the attention the tabs have bestowed on Britney for the past two years, we, like Life & Style, wonder: "Will Brit ever see glory days like those she had in 2001?" We think no, as long as she's still being tailed by the paparazzi.
