NEW YORK ( -- The Ad Age Group, publisher of Advertising Age, Ad Age Global and Creativity, today announced the purchase of, the Internet's leading provider
of access to TV commercials online. Terms were not disclosed.

The highly popular AdCritic Web service will be relaunched as part of the Ad Age Group network of industry Web sites, the advertising industry's No. 1 provider of online industry news, data and research.

'Tremendous complement'
"The addition of AdCritic's commercial archives and multimedia technology will be a tremendous complement to the round-the-clock news we already provide," said David Klein, publishing and editorial director of the Ad Age Group. "Whatever a marketer, agency or media executive needs to know, from a look at the hottest new TV spot to the latest accounts in review, it will all be available on an Ad Age Group site."

The new online service will be targeted specifically at ad industry professionals and will consist of premium-level content for business subscribers. Users will be able to subscribe online for a low monthly fee when the service launches early this summer. The new AdCritic service will be tied together with Creativity magazine, which specializes in coverage of creative agencies, production houses and commercial work.

Long-term strategy
"It's pivotal to our long-term strategy for Ad Age to continue aggressively investing in new opportunities for serving our audience," Mr. Klein said.

The Ad Age Group, part of Crain Communications, encompasses print and online products serving advertising, marketing and media professionals. In addition to Advertising Age, Ad Age Global and Creativity, it includes, and was founded in 1999 and led the advertising industry into the online world of downloadable video, building up a library of thousands of digitized ads and garnering favorable publicity among advertising fans worldwide.
