A Little Bit of Merry and Bright

NEW YORK ( -- The holiday season always seems to come early at the Ad Age offices, with marketers and agencies flooding our inboxes with all manner of fanciful, dutifully-branded swag.

Despite our consummate professionalism and deep adherence to the journalistic creed of objectivity, it always warms our steely, completely unbiased hearts when the PR elves remember our names, even if they are fully aware our favor cannot be bought, at least by definition and without bar tabs. (And there does seem to be a noticeable lack of booze coming in during these sobering last days of 2008.)

But every holiday brings its own sweetness, and here are the sweets we've unwrapped so far. Check back every day from now until Christmas Eve to see what else we've gotten.

Ion Television Mug
Ion Television has successfully married two of Switzerland's grandest traditions in one charming gift set: the unnecessarily comprehensive utility instrument and gratuitous confection. If you don't believe us, look closer; there is a spoon BUILT-IN TO THAT HOT CHOCOLATE MUG.
12 Days of Cookies
This year, perhaps expecting the continuing Great Depression Redux, Food Network is apparently sending 12 Days of Cookies -- truly the gift that keeps on giving. With Alton Brown's nebulous "Paradise Macaroons" on the menu, as well as Paula Dean's coma-inducing pistachio and cherry jam Linzer tortes, 12 days should be just enough to develop some celebratory diabetes.
Titan Worldwide baked goods
While prepackaged and thus not the warm, glowing yield of any celebrity chef, the tin of baked goods from Titan Worldwide follows suit with our chief swag credo: "Can we eat it?" We shall accept.
Blinkx chocolates
Blinkx attempts to answer a question we never thought of asking, but now will never be able to ignore: How many times can you paint your name on chocolates without getting sick? The answer is surprisingly higher than would be imagined.
 <a href='' class='directory_entry' title='AdAge Directory'>Resource Interactive</a> chocolates
Resource Interactive got the memo: another box of chocolates to pad our natural winter insulation. Yes, that means we're gonna eat 'em.
