NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- The Valencia Festival of Media has announced the shortlist of nominees for its second annual awards show to take place on April 20 in Valencia, Spain. The awards show, of which Advertising Age is a sponsor, is part of the three-day festival that kicks off on April 18.
Havas Media leads all contenders, with 20 shortlisted entries, followed by WPP's MediaCom, Interpublic Group of Cos.' Universal McCann and Omnicom Group's OMD. Media owners making the list include Yahoo and Viacom's MTV. And on the brand front, Nike leads the way with nine campaigns in the shortlist, followed by Snickers and Gillette.
Agencies and media owners will be competing for the top spot in 14 different categories including Best Communications/Entertainment Platform, Best Communications Strategy, the Consumer Benefit Award, the Award for Media Bravery, Best Event/Activation, Best Use of Content, Best Use of the Digital Landscape, Best Use of Mobile, Media Innovation of the Year and Media Owner of the Year.
The shortlist was determined by a panel of 30 judges that included Nigel Morris, CEO North America at Aegis; Maarten Albarda, VP-global connections at Anheuser-Busch InBev; Barbara Cipolla, global CMO of OMD; Nigel Conway, head of global media communications at Nestle; and Andrea Newman, group head of advertising, group marketing at HSBC.
Speakers at this year's festival will also include Antonio Lucio, CMO of Visa; Scott McCune, VP-integrated marketing at Coca-Cola, Richard Beaven; CEO of Interpublic Group of Cos.' Initiative; Peter Hill, CEO of Oman Air; Jerry Buhlman, CEO of Aegis Media, David Wheldon; global brand director of Vodafone; Christian-Andre Weinberger, CMO of Henkel; and Mainardo de Nardis, CEO of OMD.
