Fashion Rocks, which will take place Sept. 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York and air as a two-hour special on CBS on Sept. 8, has become a big deal for the media group's parent, Conde Nast Publications. In addition to the performance and broadcast, both of which will be studded with promotions for Conde advertisers, the Fashion Rocks magazine will return for distribution with the September issues of most Conde titles. Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour will repeat her stint as editorial director.
Events in general are taking on increasing importance for magazine publishers, particularly as advertisers seek new ways to stand out from all of today's ad clutter. Fashion Rocks this year is being sponsored by Chevrolet, Citi, Revlon, Dillard's and Nexxus. The Conde Nast Media Group said early this month that it plans a new event, Movies Rock, this December.
