CW, jointly owned by Time Warner and CBS, said it would make the premiere episodes of both "Aliens in America" and "Life is Wild" available via Yahoo TV. Both programs will be free of charge and appear without interruption by commercials.
"Aliens" will be available starting tomorrow until it is broadcast Monday, Oct. 1, at 8:30 p.m. Likewise, "Life is Wild" will be made available starting Saturday, Sept. 29, through its TV debut on Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.
With consumers becoming more accustomed to enjoying video content online, a number of the big broadcast networks have taken steps to get their programs on the internet.
NBC recently announced it would launch a new service, "NBC Direct," which lets users download and view NBC's popular primetime and late-night entertainment programming on their desktops for up to one week after broadcast.
A beta version of the service is expected to launch in October. NBC expects to give users a free subscription option that will allow them to pre-select their favorite NBC programs they want to watch. Those shows will be automatically delivered to their computers as soon as they are available after the original broadcast.
