The Sportsman Channel is turning the National Rifle Association's radio show, "Cam & Company," into a live daily talk show.
The show, hosted by gun-rights advocate Cam Edwards, will begin airing this evening and comes as Vice President Joe Biden is expected to present national gun-control proposals to President Obama, who will announce his plans on Wednesday. It also coincides with the Shooting, Hunting Outdoor trade show, known as the SHOT Show, taking place in Las Vegas.
The one-hour show will explore the stories, people and places behind the headlines and issues that affect the lifestyle of hunting, shooting and fishing enthusiasts, according to a statement from the NRA. Each show will feature coverage of the day's current events and breaking news plus debate and discussions with guests such as newsmakers, lawmakers, law enforcement, celebrities and athletes.
Mr. Edwards currently hosts a three-hour radio show on Sirius XM.
"With national passions running high on the issue of firearms ownership and rights in America, the series launch at SHOT Show, the largest and most comprehensive trade show for the professional shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries, is especially timely," the NRA said on its blog.
The NRA already produces and sponsors two others shows on the Sportsman Channel, "Guns and Gold" and "3 Gun Nation."
Sportsman Channel is currently in about 31 million homes, making it a relatively small channel. Full distribution comprises about 100 million homes.
