The executive who helped garner ad support for the recently launched Spanish-language network MundoFox has received a promotion weeks after the network's debut.
Tom Maney, who had been senior VP-advertising sales at Fox Hispanic Media, has been promoted to exec VP-advertising sales. He continues to manage sales for Fox's three Spanish-language pay TV channels -- Fox Deportes, Utilísima and Nat Geo Mundo -- in addition to MundoFox, a broadcast network. He has also helped build Fox Hispanic Media's digital brands.
To secure ad support for MundoFox's launch, Mr. Maney offered 12 charter sponsors ad buys that included custom "capsules" on air, web chats with actors and actresses online, integration with host segments around airings of movies, placement in prime-time shows and appearances in digital and social-media venues hosted by the network.
L'Oreal, Toyota Motor Sales USA and T-Mobile USA were among the network's initial advertisers.
"Tom has consistently brought fresh ideas to the table for our clients,"said Joe Zubizarreta, chief operating officer, Zubi Advertising, in a statement. "He understands what we need to accomplish strategically and comes to us with ammunition."
Mr. Maney joined Fox Cable Networks in 1999 as a director in the sales department. He was named senior VP-sales in 2007 and was picked to lead the new Fox Hispanic Media sales team when it was formed in 2009. Prior to joining Fox Hispanic Media, Mr. Maney's career included management and sales positions at Telemundo, Ziff Davis' ZDTV, Turner Broadcasting and Katz Sports.
