In last week's chart tallying the top TV shows on entertainment check-in service GetGlue, "The Walking Dead" spent its second week at the top. This week it held its ground, but a much different kind of drama saw the biggest increase in check-ins. Scroll down below the graphic for more notes and context.
- There's no stopping AMC's increasingly popular zombie drama, "The Walking Dead," which spends its third consecutive week at the top of the check-ins chart -- part of a broader trend of stabilization after a month or so of constant turnover brought on by big season premieres and special TV events, including the presidential debates. Though it loses a small number of check-ins week to week, "The Walking Dead" has established itself as the show to beat on GetGlue this fall.
- The biggest chart surge of the week belongs to ABC Family's twisted teen mystery "Pretty Little Liars," whose summer season wrapped up in August but came back for a Halloween special on Oct. 23. The episode got big ratings , finishing as last Tuesday's No. 1 cable TV telecast in key female demos, according to Nielsen.
- Last week, we speculated that the CW's "Nikita" was losing some its social steam. That trend continued this week, along with a pointed ratings slide. "Nikita" is something of a wildcard, though, since the CW doesn't seem to be holding it to the same standards as other shows with similarly dismal ratings , perhaps hoping to keep it going on Fridays long enough to rack up enough episodes to qualify the series for syndication. Still, for a show that used to top the chart each week despite its small audience, its check-in declines are notable -- whether the result of a more crowded TV schedule or a decline in enthusiasm among fans who had been evangelists for the show.
