Every weekday, we bring you the Ad Age/iSpot Hot Spots, new and trending TV commercials tracked by iSpot.tv, a company that catalogs, tags and measures activity around TV ads in real time. The new releases here ran on TV for the first time yesterday. The Most Engaging ads are showing sustained social heat, ranked by SpotShare scores reflecting the percent of digital activity associated with each one over the past week.
Among the new releases, Target wraps Christmas presents with a toy cast of Barbie, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Trolls, a Lego person and the Hulk; Macy's promotes its holiday discounts on jewelry; Big Lots bursts into song over its serving dishes, glittery decor and gifts; and Cognizant provides a glimpse into a future with self-driving cars.
Finally, Nike releases an ad about ads and consumer habits in 2016. It mocks how much time we spend watching screens, watching reality shows and looking at pictures on the internet. At the end, Nike asks one big question to each of us: "Are we running today?"
