MAGAZINES SEE DROP IN FIRST QUARTER AD PAGES

Decline 14%; 'FHM,' 'Selecciones' Best Performers

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Magazine ad pages dropped 14% in the first quarter to 47,888 from 55, 703.3 in the same period in 2001, according to Publishers Information Bureau figures.

March ad pages were slightly better, down 10.1% to 19,934.7.

in ad pages for the quarter were Bride's, Bridal Guide, People, Power and Motoryacht and Transworld Skateboarding.

Lad mag FHM showed a 134.6% hike in ad sales for the quarter, the largest rate of growth for the period.

Selecciones, the Spanish-language version of Reader's Digest that was relaunched last spring, showed a 128% increase in sales, the biggest growth rate in March.
