Woven Digital, the publisher of media brands such as BroBible and Uproxx, has hired Eileen Carty as the company's first chief revenue officer, according to a Wednesday afternoon memo obtained by Ad Age.
Ms. Carty most recently served as exec VP-brand partnerships for PopSugar, where she spent seven years in sales-focused roles. She's also worked for Glam Media and MySpace.
Woven Digital CEO Colin Digiaro said in the memo that Ms. Carty "has a long history of building revenue organizations and strategies from the ground-up."
Mr. Digiaro said Los Angeles-based Woven Digital has, over the last 18 months, "transitioned entirely out of the sales agency (rep) model and focused on investing in, and building our owned & operated media brands."
He also critiqued display advertising, and plugged the company's content-first approach. "The days of the 460x80 'banner' are long gone," he wrote in the memo. "Brands expect more. They expect immersive, native, meaningful editorial and video based storytelling experiences which they can align with."
Woven Digital recently acquired the entertainment news website HitFix. The company claims 50 million monthly unique visitors, and does not disclose revenue numbers.
Ms. Carty will be based in New York.
