NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- In an unexpected move, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is closing Blueprint magazine after its January/February 2008 issue and making the web the brand's primary home. Blueprint will also reappear as a series of special-interest issues of Martha Stewart Weddings.

The title had been on newsstands since only May 2006.

"After much discussion and analysis we have made a decision to produce Blueprint as focused special interest issues within the home category, which we will introduce to brides-to-be through our Martha Stewart Weddings magazine," Susan Lyne, CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, said in a staff memo this morning. "Bluelines, the Blueprint blog, will continue and we plan to grow Blueprint digital content across our websites."

In a statement, the company said some jobs will be eliminated but did not immediately say how many. A "core team of employees" is expected to be reassigned.

The first test issue of Blueprint only arrived on newsstands in May 2006, but the title had seemed to gain a following among young women. Ms. Lyne didn't suggest anything was amiss in the publishing division when she presented last week at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference.
