Ms. Lee will also take up the role of editor in chief of Ladies' Home Journal. She succeeds Diane Salvatore, who will be leaving Meredith.

The editors of Family Circle, Fitness, American Baby Group and Ser Padres will all report to Ms. Lee, and she will head a search committee for the new editor of Parents, who will also report to her.

"Sally has done a great job overseeing the Parents brand, and has provided strong leadership and guidance for its numerous product extensions," said Mr. Griffin. "Parents magazine is coming off a record year in fiscal 2008 and its related activities -- including Parents.com, licensed products, books and public advocacy programs -- have experienced significant successes as well."

Other promotions
Gayle Butler, editor in chief of Better Homes and Gardens, will now also act as senior VP-Des Moines editorial director. Ms. Butler will oversee Country Home, Traditional Home and Midwest Living. "She has provided strong oversight as BH&G has expanded across multiple platforms," said Mr. Griffin. BG&H is launching a home-products line at Wal-Mart later this year.

Dan Hickey, who oversaw the re-launch of BHG.com, was promoted to VP-digital content, where he will work on interactive strategies. "Dan has been a strong leader in our digital business since joining Meredith from AOL, and has spearheaded many of our most visible digital efforts," said Mr. Griffin.

The new assignments come in the wake of the resignation of Mike LaFavore, Meredith's editorial director.
